Japan quake not affecting Amazon data center or cloud services

The massive earthquake that struck north of Tokyo is raising concerns about the impact on data centers and cloud computing, including Amazon’s recently opened facility there.

But so far, several web sites are reporting Amazon’s data center services are available at the Tokyo data center.

On March 2, Amazon announced the launch of its Japan data center to support cloud-computing services.

A check of Amazon's AWS Service Health Dashboard shows that Amazon Web Services in Japan is operating normally.

Update:

Amazon has announced it is working with the Red Cross to help collect funds to assist the victims in Japan.
